Edmodo is an educational platform that works the same as a social network but without the dangers that open social networks have, since it is about creating a closed group between the students and the teacher, to share messages, links, documents and events. Edmodo allows you to create a virtual space for communication with your students and other teachers, in which you can share messages, files and links, a work calendar, as well as propose tasks and activities and manage them. Among the advantages of this service, it should be noted that it is free and that minors can register. In addition, and this is important, the pages are private by default, which means that the information is only accessible to those who enter with their username and password, that is, registered students and teachers.

There are three types of profiles in Edmodo, each of which can use the network in a different way. These three profiles are:

1-Teacher: Who is in charge of creating the groups and managing them. You can upload files, create events, take quizzes, design Assignments, set grades, etc.

2-Student: That you can only join the groups, you cannot create them, as long as you know the access code to it, and that you can download files, consult the events, answer the quizzes, deliver the assignments once finished, see your brades, send a file to the teacher.

3-Parent: Parents of students can also access Edmodo. To do this, they need to know the code for relatives that corresponds to their child, and they will only be able to consult the activity that their child does in Edmodo, their grades, events, etc. You can also contact the teacher through this platform.

The steps to follow to create an account in Edmodo are the following:

Access the Edmodo page and create an account as a teacher (we are asked for a username, password and e-mail account). Once the account is created, we access the platform where we can create a group, for example for our classroom. Once the group is created, they send us an exclusive code for that group. This code will be used for our students to request to enter this group with the student profile, creating a username, password, and entering their name and surname (an e-mail account is not required). Each user can choose an image or upload a photo within preferences. Once the entire group is registered, each student-user can send messages to the group or to the teacher. With our teacher profile we can also send surveys or assignments to the group (tasks or activities that must be sent to us before a certain date). Once the students complete the activity, they send it to us through the platform and we can rate it. In short, it is a private network that allows interaction with our students and among them quickly and efficiently through the Internet.
